Mimi Geiger, Broker Associate, RE/MAX Superior Properties, Huntley

What was your first job in the realty industry? I was a buyer’s agent to a top producer in the Huntley area.

Where did you grow up? Northwest side of Chicago.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Work out.

If you weren’t a Realtor, what would you be? This is my second career; I am retired from the airline industry, where I worked in customer service and was a concierge working with celebrities, heads of State, etc. If I wasn’t a Realtor, I would be a hotel concierge.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Michael Jackson. I truly believe he was a kind person who was full of love and just had a really bad rap. After listening to his songs again and seeing how he affected so many people’s lives, I just would love to talk to him.

What is your favorite place to hang out? I like going to estate sales and antique malls, just to browse and find treasures.

What do you love most about the industry? The pace, and being able to truly help people, especially during these times when so many folks are facing financial disasters. There is a great satisfaction when I am able help a homeowner avoid foreclosure and have hope in the not-so-distant-future. It’s very rewarding.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I maintain professionalism at all times and strive to be helpful and energetic, ready to learn and work hard.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Making sure that I truly service the clients who have put their trust in me. Often, it means having to balance work and family without letting anyone down. I’ve learned that if you overextend yourself, you’re doomed for failure. It’s important to ask for help if needed and keep up-to-date on ways to be more productive and efficient.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Expos, chamber meetings, Women’s Council of Realtors, volunteering at various events in the local communities, i.e., Algonquin Summerfest, Huntley Fall Fest, and helping out at my church.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Being able to build a loving family of my husband, daughter, son and six grandchildren.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The movie Eat, Pray, Love.

What is your favorite restaurant? Gibson’s.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago? Willis Tower.

What kind of car do you drive? Chrysler Pacifica.

Smartphone or Paper? Smartphone.

What is your favorite city after Chicago? Rome.

What’s your favorite Real Estate iPhone/ Blackberry app? QR Code Reader.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Keep taking classes; knowledge is wealth. Learn from successful mentors.
