The grand opening for architect and designer Sarah Susanka’s “Not So Big Showhouse” will take place in Libertyville Saturday, and will be prefaced by an invite-only broker’s open tomorrow. A soft opening was held last Saturday, with the architect and designer herself in attendance.

Susanka’s signature home design revolves around the idea “better, not bigger,” and is based off of her best-selling Not So Big House series – a total of nine books that have collectively sold over 1.2 million copies.  The series discusses the various ways in which homeowners can “live large” without large amounts of space.

Susanka describes the design of her homes as valuing “quality over quantity,” and that they “emphasize comfort, beauty, and a high level of detail.”

The architect teamed up with SchoolStreet Homes to exhibit the beauty of placing a Not So Big House design within a walkable community. Noteworthy attendees of the soft opening of the showhouse included MJ Seiler, Century 21 listing agent; Rick Davidson, Century 21 president and CEO; and Developer John Mclinden.
