I love to learn, and when I saw the diversity class was offered, the topic immediately interested me. I thought it would be a great way to learn to communicate with buyers of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, including “new Americans.” I saw the class as the beginning of an adventure. Homeownership is the ultimate American Dream, and helping clients that are culturally different from me would allow me to have an impact on people’s lives.

The real estate market is an ever-changing industry. As a Realtor, it is my responsibility to my clients and the profession to be knowledgeable of all changes. Real estate is a diverse marketplace where minority homeownership is increasing tremendously. It is necessary to understand the differences among cultures and create a comfort level for all. The At Home With Diversity certification provides me with the skills and ability to be sensitive and adaptable to cultural differences. It has been a benefit in that I have worked successfully with clients in multicultural populations and have received referrals from those clients.
