Vol. 5, Iss. 10, Out of Town: CityCenter

by Chicago Agent

Las Vegas, Nevada

AT A GLANCE
The sights and sounds of Las Vegas are enjoyed by over 39.2 million visitors every year. Visitors and residents alike enjoy some of the most glamorous, unique hotels and residences in the world. There are countless five-star restaurants and expansive buffets, casinos, pools, health spas and golf courses. Among all the attractions in Las Vegas, getting married is one of the most popular. From formal black-tie affairs to renewing vows in front of a rhinestone-studded Elvis impersonator, more than 122,000 couples obtain marriage licenses each year in Las Vegas, making it the marriage capital of the world.

CityCenter is an urban metropolis on 76 acres between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. A joint venture between MGM MIRAGE and Dubai World, the more than $8 billion development will be a vertical city in the center of Las Vegas. Currently, CityCenter is the largest privately financed development in the history of North America.

CityCenter will feature a 61-story, 4,000-room resort casino designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. The resort tower, casino and convention center will be CityCenter’s most iconic feature.

CityCenter will have two 400-room, non-gaming hotels. Las Vegas’ first Mandarin Oriental will feature approximately 227 condominium residences situated on the upper floors of the hotel tower. The Harmon Hotel, Spa & Residences tower will have 400 hotel rooms and approximately 207 condominium residences available as one- and two-bedroom flats and penthouses. Unit prices start at $1.5 million.

CityCenter’s 57-story Vdara Condo Hotel will be the complex’s sole condo hotel with approximately 1,543 residential units including studios, deluxe studios, one- and two-bedroom residences and one- and two-bedroom penthouses. Unit prices start at $600,000.

Veer Towers will rise from CityCenter’s retail and entertainment district. The two 37-story towers will each have approximately 337 modern condominium residences available in studios, one- and two-bedroom flats and penthouses.

CityCenter will also include The Crystals, a 500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment district. The development will also feature a $40 million Public Fine Art Program. CityCenter owners will have exclusive privileges at MGM MIRAGE resorts in Las Vegas.

MGM MIRAGE is pursuing LEED certification at CityCenter. The project is 18 million square feet and will incorporate a variety of elements, like on-site power generation, to make it one of the world’s largest environmentally sustainable urban communities.
