There are many fine details that real estate agents should be aware of, but we’ve got the three broad facts of life that they must know.

If you know your target market, your message will be well-received. Even though real estate is about selling, knowing stats about your clients, and homebuyers in general, can only help you and your business.

IXACT Contact came up with an infographic detailing three key facts all agents should know:

Clients are still your best source for referrals. According to the National Association of Realtors’ 2011 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, 85 percent of recent sellers who used an agent would most likely use that agent again or recommend him or her to others.

Referrals build more referrals. NAR also found that 39 percent of people who hired an agent, hired him or her because the agent was referred to them by a friend, neighbor or relative. Twenty-two percent used an agent they had previously used to buy or sell a home.

If you are the first agent prospects contact, you’ll most likely get the job. Sixty-six percent of people contacted just one agent before deciding to hire that agent, according to NAR. Only 16 percent of people contact two agents, 13 percent contact three, and a miniscule 3 percent contact four agents before making a decision.
