Construction spending has been up and down in Chicagoland in 2014, but it bounced back in a major way in July.

Residential construction spending in the Chicagoland region totaled $422 million in July 2014, a remarkable 90 percent increase from last year, according to the latest stats from McGraw Hill Construction.

Though construction in Chicagoland has been inconsistent throughout this year, July’s strong showing has put the region back into positive territory, and year-to-date, construction spending is now up 4 percent over 2013.
