I’m Boycotting Wisconsin Cheese

by Chicago Agent

Ugh. As if Chicago wasn’t depressing enough with the dreary Chicago days and freezing Chicago nights, I just lost a listing to a Packers fan!  I have had it with those cheeseheads and I don’t care how many referrals my buddies up there send me, we are not on speaking terms until after the Superbowl.

Anyway, enough about that – here’s the good stuff you’ve been waiting for.
Sudler’s star agent, Janet Owen jumped to Prudential Rubloff’’s Mag Mile office where she is expected to add even more action to that busy office. Speaking of Sudler, agents all over town are quietly talking about Sudler and commissions. What’s an agent to do? Not getting paid is not an option, and I’ve heard all kinds of subversive plots in the works, but it’s all just talk….for now.

There’s some moving and shaking going on with some other Sudler people: Tim Salm recently moved on up from sales agent at Sudler Sotheby’s to vice president of sales at Jameson Sotheby’s, and Julie Capp, who was a sales consultant at Sudler Sotheby’s and is now a sales consultant at Prudential Rubloff Properties’ Lincoln Park office.

Just got confirmation about Koenig & Strey on the prowl for acquisitions. So now that’s 15 consecutive companies telling me the same thing. Do I smell a bidding war?

My builder friends are happy to see activity at Trio, that mid-century modern gem in the Fulton River District is now in the hands of the capable Marquette Properties and Garrison Partner’s superhero Christine Lutz. Stand by for the grand re-opening next month. Those people know how to cater a party – Carnivale perhaps? Maybe 1400 LSD will be next.

Liz Gottainer, former Frankel & Giles agent, now LA’s agent to the stars, makes her reality show debut on that new Joan Rivers’ show on WeTV, “Joan Knows Best.” How Gottainer can handle stars like Joan, I have no clue – that woman looks like a lot to handle. Watch for her on the show when Joan and her daughter Melissa go house hunting!

There are talks of a 39-story tower making a different kind of debut in the Randolph Street theater district right across from Cadillac Place Theater. ZCORP Services, the general contractor, is seeking the city’s approval for the project, and already, according to my sources, several companies are interested in managing different parts of the building. President Joseph Zosky has said the economy forced him to lose some deals…but the show must go on. Maybe this will be Zosky’s big break?

Developer Bruce Fogelson filed Chapter 11 on his 15-unit condo project, Bucktown Station, and my sources tell me his next venture may be Beijing Station? He’s an international man of mystery. . . .or a spy?

Congrats to Debbie Scully, who moved from a sales associate position at Baird & Warner’s Highland Park office to a sales associate position at @properties in Chicago!

Happy birthday to Joe Marrone, who celebrated his birthday on January 28. Want an excuse to go out? Find out where these other good people are celebrating their birthdays: Mosella Clair and CA shutterbug Amanda Gruenwald on February 2; Amy Settich on February 4; Kelly Wong on February 9; and Hamza Ishaq on February 10.

I keep dropping my name in the hat for Chicago Agent’s new sales position.  I figure with their HoustonAgentMagazine.com launch and MiamiAgentMagazine.com relaunch I could go on some “business trips” during the frigid Chicago winters – but I think I’ll hold out for Maui Agent. Anyway, if you know anyone who can fit the bill (I am hoping for finders fee) have them email a resume to AgentX@ChicagoAgentMagazine.com.
