Founder of James McNaughton Builders Passes

by Chicago Agent

James McNaughton, president and CEO of James McNaughton Builders, has died. McNaughton established his company — which specializes in new, single-family, luxury custom homes in Hinsdale, Oak Brook and Burr Ridge — on the premise that the homes he was building could be his own.

When McNaughton first began his new home construction business more than 30 years ago, he was a young graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign business school in search of a career. After a distinguished record in high-end, luxury, custom new home construction, the company enjoys recognition as one of the Western Suburbs’ few premier builders.

The firm’s reputation was achieved by combining distinctive architectural design, superior materials and construction techniques with superb craftsmanship. McNaughton also strived to integrate quality with fair pricing in every project he ever took on, because resale value is a major consideration in home buying. Long-term affiliations with the trades and suppliers also allowed him to operate economically and return profits to the company, thereby providing customers with the value and quality they seek. He also always showed a personal interest in each project.

James “Jim” McNaughton is survived by his wife Karen of 37 years, in addition to three children and three grandchildren.

I am both surprised and saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. I had worked with his team often in the passed and always thought he ran a class organization.

I was Jimmy’s personal trainer for 7 years up until this diagnosis. I am truly embarrassed but I’m only hearing of this now. Jim was a great guy and I always look forward to our training sessions, Jimmy was a good friend and I have so many fond memories
