Rebecca Jensen, president and CEO of Midwest Real Data (MRED), has plenty of accolades to her name: she is one of Swanepoel’s 200 Most Powerful People in Residential Real Estate, a HousingWire Rising Star, and she has also been honored as one of Inman News’ 100 Most Influential People in Real Estate.

Previously the CEO of a regional MLS in Utah, Jensen also served as the board chair of the Real Estate Standards Organization for four years. During her tenure, the organization created the first Real Estate Data Dictionary for the industry, and today, nearly 600 MLSs representing more than one million Realtors have adopted that Data Dictionary standard.

Jensen has hardly slowed down as MRED’s CEO. During the past year, she has served on the board of managers for the Broker Public Portal (BPP), a consumer-facing search experience that is MLS/broker-owned. “This project exists because consumers and real estate professionals deserve a home search experience that is more straightforward and clear than those offered by advertising-driven media companies,” Jensen says. “With the Homesnap vendor, we will create a national home search experience defined by simplicity, integrity, and common sense.”

And MRED will be on the vanguard with the BPP’s launch. After an enthusiastic response from MRED’s brokers, the MLS will be the first in the nation to implement the system. “That is remarkable, because brokers in Chicago have never before wanted their MLS to sponsor a home search experience for consumers,” Jensen explains. “However, the unique nature of this project has created an unmistakable excitement in MRED’s market and throughout the country.”

Jensen is also a member of NAR’s Corporate Investor Council, which has developed a new advocacy program that enables MLSs and other corporations to invest in Realtor and MLS issues and/or candidates; half of the money raised is spent locally, and all of it benefits MRED’s customers directly.  In her free time, Jensen enjoys exploring the Midwest with her two sons.
