Ben Cohen is one of the top loan originators in the world of mortgage lending. A 12-year veteran of the industry, his accomplishments are self-evident. Guaranteed Rate has recognized him as a member of its Chairman’s Circle and President’s Club ranking him one of the top loan officers in the company. Mortgage Executive Magazine, Scotsman Guide and National Mortgage News have all placed him in their lists of top 100 lenders nationwide for the past several years. Mortgage Executive Magazine recently ranked him No. 8 in the country and No. 1 in Illinois for 2015. Cohen states, “My primary motivation is helping people’s dreams of homeownership come true. For most people, purchasing a home is the single largest financial decision of their life, and I enjoy being part of something that affects people’s lives so positively and profoundly.”

Cohen’s degree in management information systems ushered him into the world of management consulting after college, where he specialized as a technical architect for several years. His job involved a considerable amount of travel, and he eventually tired of always being away from friends and family. “I knew there was something else out there calling my name, so I sought the kind of career that would allow me to control my own destiny.” Cohen found himself drawn to a career as a loan originator, where he could enjoy helping others.

“I think it’s safe to say I have clients in every occupation imaginable, and no two backgrounds are the same.” His portfolio includes first-time buyers, those looking to purchase a larger home to accommodate their growing family, people planning to downsize, homeowners seeking to refinance, and investors. Many of his clients become friends after the transaction is complete, which he believes reinforces the dedication and love he has for his career.

Cohen set a new record for himself last year, originating more than a quarter-billion dollars in loans. He calls the numerous accolades he has received true honors, but says his success is due to his honesty, candor, and transparency. “Quite simply, my goal is to continue to offer the best customer service with the lowest rates and costs possible to my clients.”
