Broker Associate
Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty

Everyone loves a good story; Judy Gibbons is a great storyteller. The broker associate believes that understanding and conveying the story of every property will attract exactly the right buyer.

“Each property has a different tale to be told,” she says. “My father – and mentor – was a fabulous storyteller. He started his business out of the trunk of his car with nothing but a big personality and a belief that his handshake meant his word. My ability to engage others came from him, and when I say I’ll do something, I do it.”

Gibbons’ perseverance and passion for making connections serves her well, whether she’s interacting digitally with one of her 18,000 social media contacts or composing a handwritten note to a client. She also has an artistic eye that she uses when helping stage a home, stemming from experience in the fashion industry.

The Barrington native has deep roots in the northwest Chicago suburbs, where she specializes in vintage homes, golf course properties and city pied-à-terres. Her current listings include some of the oldest properties in the area, built in 1880, when “chickens used to be given as house- warming presents!” Additionally, Gibbons loves spending time in the city where she owns a “house in the sky,” and also caters to city-dwelling clients.

When she’s not connecting with clients, Gibbons networks with colleagues as director of the North Shore- Barrington Association of Realtors and as a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors. Her goal is to continue her career as a referral-based agent, build a team and mentor them in a way that encourages loyalty and, of course, an appreciation for storytelling.

“In 1967, my family and I survived a tornado that destroyed our house,” she says. “That experience made me realize a house is just a building with four walls, but home is wherever you are with your family. You really do only live once, and I’m here on this earth to lead with a giving hand and a good story.”
