Coldwell Banker Luxury Listing Wins ‘Home of the Year’ Award

Nancy Gibson, a Realtor with the Northbrook office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, has been honored with the “Home of the Year” award for her listing at 3345 Sunset Trail in Northbrook by Unique Homes, a premier magazine for luxury real estate, which showcases the most spectacular properties throughout the world.

The contest, as part of Unique Homes’ 40th anniversary celebration, included 40 homes from around the world that were previously featured in the magazine’s 2010 issues. The properties were selected by its staff and judged for best designs and aesthetics, the most impressive amenities and uses of technology, amazing views, unrivaled abilities to entertain, high degrees of livability, and the greatest “wow” factors. The 40 homes were then categorized by price – including homes listed from $1 million to $4,999,999, $5 million to $9,999,999, $10 million to $24,999,999, and $25 million and higher – and voted on by readers until early February when winners were selected in each category.

“I’m excited to see this Northbrook home receive the recognition it deserves,” says Patrick O’Rourke, regional vice president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “This award reaffirms Coldwell Banker’s commitment to high-end properties, as the leader in the luxury market.”

The Northbrook property was built by Orren Pickell and designed with smart house technology, an automated system that enables quick and easy touch control of security, lighting, heating, air conditioning and entertainment. Its 6,706 square feet include five bedrooms that each has its own private balconies and private baths. It has a banquet-sized dining room, a library, numerous game areas, an exercise room and an acoustically sound-proofed home theater with leather reclining seating and a 96-inch projection screen, as well as a four-car heated garage.

Some of the home’s other features include a free-floating staircase and two stories of curved glass, which leads to an upper level gallery overlooking the entire main floor. It has hand-applied, silver-leaf pillars in the great room, custom entertainment cabinetry that surrounds a gorgeous curved granite fireplace, and a beautiful kitchen that has a sweeping, wraparound breakfast bar, large center island and cherry cabinetry. The sunroom has glass windows that retract completely to make it fully open to the outdoors, where a covered portico with heated floors leads to a spa-like, in-ground pool with a waterfall Jacuzzi.

“It’s an honor to be working with the homeowners of this magnificent property,” says Nancy Gibson. “To be selected as the winner for Home of the Year in its category ($1 million to $4,999,999) truly shows how spectacular this home is. Its one of a kind features, design and amenities place it in a category of its own.”

The home is located at 3345 Sunset Trail in Northbrook and is listed for $2,874,900. For more information on the home or the Unique Homes Magazine contest, please call Nancy Gibson at 847-363-9880 or visit www.ColdwellBankerOnline.com.
