Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity announced a year-long partnership with Wintrust Financial, who is also the lead sponsor of Habitat’s summer initiative, “Building On!”

Although Wintrust has been consistently supporting Habitat for Humanity for the past, this year’s contribution is their largest to date. Wintrust, a locally based and run financial holding company, believes it’s important to invest and give back to the areas it serves.

“No parents ever plans to raised children in a cramped apartment. So many people dream of owning a home, but just need some support to get them,” said president and CEO of Wintrust, Edward J. Wehmer, “We’re proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity to provide those in need with an alternate path to homeownership. Like Habitat, we believe everyone-especially Chicago-area families- deserve a decent place to live.”

For close to 30 years, Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity has been supporting thousands by building houses for individuals and families in need. Since 1976, Habitat has built over 1 million houses across the world. Over 1,100 of those houses have been built in the Chicagoland area. Thanks to sponsors like Wintrust, Habitat has been able to provide safe and affordable housing for over 5,000 people in the Chicagoland area.

But Wintrust’s support for Habitat for Humanity is not solely financially. Wintrust employees have taken part in many home builds with Habitat in DuPage, Northern Fox Valley and Chicago.

“Our monetary commitment to Habitat for Humanity across Chicagoland over the last three years has been significant,” said Bob Shield, executive vice president of Wintrust Mortgage, “But, our contribution to the organization’s cause has been much more than a monetary one. We’re extremely proud of the fact we’ve had more than 100 of our employees out volunteering on build sites, and that we’ll have another 100 buildings throughout Chicagoland this summer. That’s exciting for all of us.”
