A Hinsdale home, listed at $2.55 million, has gone viral due to a massive painting of Batman’s bat signal at the bottom of its pool.

Batman’s bat signal has made its way from Gotham City to the quiet suburb of Hinsdale, as a home located on 510 Woodland Ave. has his emblem splashed across the bottom of the home’s pool.

The home, listed by Beau Carstensen of ERA Real Estate – Team Feinstein in late February/early March, sits on two acres featuring four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, and has the sticker price of $2.55 million.

The Symbol’s Origin in Hinsdale Home

In a Zillow blog post, Carstensen explained that the current owners’ son loved the superhero growing up that they had an artist freehand draw the Batman symbol in the pool for him when their son was around 3 or 4 years-old. They decided to keep it over the years, and the pool eventually gained notoriety.

“One of the son’s friends posted it on YouTube later, and that’s when it went viral,” said Carstensen in the post.

Focus Remains on Architecture

Though she admits that the Batman symbol has become a “wow feature” when she shows the home, Carstensen explained, however, that it hasn’t become the central focus when interested buyers initially inquire about the home.

“Most of the stimulus comes from the architecture of the home,” she said.

According to Zillow, the home was built in the late 1920s and is a classic Tudor measuring 3,754 feet.

Once she does show interested buyers the pool, however, Carstensen explained that some finally do realize that it’s the home with the “Batman pool” they hear about.

And despite the recent release of The Dark Knight Rises, coupled with the pool’s viral fame, Carstensen stressed that inquiries about the home have strictly come from serious buyers.

Interested Buyers

Though Carstensen didn’t divulge any details about any offers for the home, she does explain that the home has seen a lot of activity and that they have a couple of interested hopefuls vying for the home.

Zillow has computed the home’s possible monthly mortgage to be around $9,095, assuming a 20 percent down payment on a 30-year mortgage.
