Want to know the latest housing numbers but don’t know where to look or have the time to check? The Census Bureau just released a free app called America’s Economy that makes it really easy.

As part of a new digital strategy being implemented by the government to make economic data more widely available and easier to access, the Census Bureau teamed up the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics to develop an app that instantly updates when an indicator is released.

There’s An App For That – America’s Economy

America’s Economy can also be set up to push alerts when new data is released or send you an email. It also lets you easily Tweet or post to Facebook the most recent numbers.

So if you are an agent who wants to stay up-to-date with the health of the economy or want to build your brand and show your clients and followers how well informed you are, this app is a necessity.

App Features

America’s Economy is very simple and clean, without too many bells and whistles. It currently makes 16 different economic indicators available with an arrow next to each one indicating whether the most recent numbers were up or down and by how much. If you want, you can even click on the indicator and pull up the full .pdf of the report.

Stephen Buckner, Director of New Media and Promotions at the US Census Bureau said the app usually updates within five minutes of a reports official release and that they are looking into adding additional data sets.

The app went live for the Android platform last week and Buckner said it is currently in the approval process for iOS products.

“The America’s Economy app will empower anyone needing information about the U.S. economy with timely statistics on their mobile devices,” Census Bureau Director Robert Groves said.
