Senior Mortgage Consultant

Jason Accola has more than a decade of experience helping first-time buyers. It’s only natural, then, that he would be recognized consecutively by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) as the 2013 and 2014 Loan Officer of the Year.

His desire to help others is evident through his recent involvement with new statewide homeownership initiatives. In April, Accola participated in a press conference with IHDA and Governor Pat Quinn to announce the Welcome Home Illinois Program – an initiative designed for first-time homebuyers or those who have not owned a primary residence in the past three years. This program offers affordable 30-year fixed interest rates and a forgivable $7,500 grant to qualified applicants.

At Wintrust Mortgage, Accola has also spearheaded a companywide initiative to raise awareness of lending benefits to military veterans and members of the armed services. Those efforts culminated over Memorial Day weekend, when Accola again partnered with the governor and IHDA to promote the Welcome Home Heroes Program.

“The U.S. has over 21.8 million veterans and 2.2 million active and reserve service members, yet they are a significantly underserved population when it comes to homeownership initiatives,” Accola says. “Welcome Home Heroes offers $10,000 cash assistance for down payment and closing costs, a 30-year fixed rate mortgage and other benefits. Our goal is to help the men and women who have served this country, including the 750,000-plus veterans in Illinois, secure the resources they need to buy a home.”

According to Accola, his success with these programs simply boils down to hard work and a team that is united on providing unparalleled service. Accola states, “At the end of the day, our Realtor partners know we go the extra mile to help their customers obtain lasting benefits, and we take pride in making that happen.”
