New Home Data Coming to the MLS

by Peter Thomas Ricci

new home data

Builders Digital Experience, Inc. (BDX), a joint venture between Move, Inc. and Builder Homesite, Inc., announced this month a unique partnership with nine multiple listing services – including Chicagoland’s Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) – to provide new home data to member agents through its New Home Source Professional service.

Tim Costello, the chief executive officer for BDX, said his firm’s MLS partnerships will bring new data to a large swath of the housing market.

“Across the country, over 63 percent of new homes are sold by agents, and our relationships with these MLSs allow them to bring an unprecedented level of new home information and tools directly to their members,” Costello said.

The “New Home Channel”

Featuring the largest collection of new homes anywhere, New Home Source Professional presents turnkey, branded homes via a “new home channel,” which will be integrated into the interface of MRED and other participating MLSs. Through that interface, MLS members will be able to search for new homes and view all available units in a builder’s inventory via their MLS dashboard. The joint venture will create a plethora of new features that agents will be able to take advantage of, according to Costello, and will further connect consumers looking for new construction with a licensed real estate agent.

According to BDX, 54 percent of home shoppers consider new construction properties when beginning their home search, and the New Home Source Professional Service “allows agents to serve buyers in an increasingly competitive digital landscape.”

“MRED has always invited builders into the MLS family by advocating their membership and entry of listings as long as they met the requirement to offer compensation to the buyer brokers,” said MRED CEO Russ Bergeron. “Our partnership with BDX expands upon that premise. The BDX system not only offers our customers the ability to register buyers online, but provides a lot of detail on new home developments and individual models, including floor plans.  It is a win-win-win proposition for builders, brokers and consumers.”

A Wide-Ranging Incorporation of New Home Data

MRED is certainly not alone in its partnership with BDX. Other participating MLSs include: the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems (MRIS) in the Washington, D.C. metro area; the California Regional Multiple Listing Service (CRMLS); the Austin Board of Realtors (ABOR) in Austin, Texas; the East Bay Regional Data Inc. (EBRDI) in Concord, Calif.; the Contra Costa Association of Realtors (CCAR) in Walnut Creek, Calif.; the Bay East Association of Realtors in Pleasanton, Calif.; the Northeast Florida Multiple Listing Service (NEFMLS) in Jacksonville, Fla.; and the South Florida MLS (SoFLMLS) in Jupiter, Fla.

And that’s not counting the MLSs that have already integrated BDX’s data, which include: the San Diego County Regional Multiple Listing Service (Sandicor) in the San Diego metro area; the Regional MLS (RMLS) in Portland, Ore.; the Tucson Association of Realtors MLS (TAR/MLS) in Tucson, Ariz.; the Arizona Regional MLS (ARMLS) in Phoenix; the Regional Multiple Listing Service Florida (RMLSFL) in Maitland, Fla.; the MLSListings in the Greater San Francisco, Calif. Bay Area; and the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors (GLVAR) in Las Vegas.
