Tracey Larsen is a broker associate with Premier Living Properties in St. Charles and South Elgin

What was your first job in the realty industry? Broker associate for Ricky Realty, LLC. My broker was also an appraiser, and he taught me so much about the industry. I will be forever grateful for his knowledge.

Where did you grow up? Schaumburg

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Getting in a good workout for the day always seems to help with stress. Also, if it’s nice out, I like to sit on my front porch swing with a cup of coffee, or if it’s in the evening, a glass of wine.

Growing up, what did you want to be? A mom, and that dream came true. I also looked up to my grandmother, who was a Realtor for 40 years. I love that I followed in her footsteps.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Melissa McCarthy. I love to laugh, and she is so funny. I think she’d be great to be friends with. Plus, she’s from Chicago!

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My very own home. I love when my husband and I have friends over, and hang out in our basement bar watching the Blackhawks or the Bears.

What do you love most about the industry? My answer is probably different from what most people would say, but I love that the people I have met as clients become new friends. When you help someone buy or sell a home you are a part of something special for them, and it creates a bond. I love all the friendships I have made since becoming a real estate agent.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? By always remembering the golden rule.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The things that are just out of my control.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I meet so many people through my kids’ schools and sports. I try to sponsor any local fundraiser that I can, and that has really has helped get my name out there. Facebook has also been an awesome promotional tool for me.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My kids, hands down. They’re the reason I work so hard.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “The Secret.” There is so much power in staying positive.

What is your favorite restaurant? Bien Trucha in Geneva. Amazing!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago? The Chicago skyline is just gorgeous, and my favorite has always been the Crain Communication building. I love that diamond shape. Since I was a kid it has always stood out to me.

What kind of car do you drive? An Acura MDX is my everyday car, but I also own a Lexus SC430 hardtop convertible. I love taking that car out on nice days.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone mostly, but the occasional Post-it note is necessary at times.

What is your favorite city after Chicago? Fort Myers – I love palm trees! I dream of one day selling real estate in flip flops in Florida.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Don’t know the answer? No worries – just get it later.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Pinterest. It’s full of great ideas for thoughtful updates to homes that I can easily share with clients.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Honestly, I don’t really use Twitter. That’s something I need to work on.
