Love them or hate them, syndication sites are a polarizing topic in real estate. As more and more aspects of the homebuying process are developed into apps, websites and other digital services, agents find themselves in the position of defending their knowledge and credentials.

For some agents, paying for advertising solutions on Zillow, Trulia or realtor.com is money well-spent. Others see those models as encroaching on a way of doing business that has traditionally held agents as gatekeepers of property information. Our cover story toes the divide. We asked local agents to tell us exactly what they love or hate about syndicators. Accompanying the cover story are the results of a quick survey we sent to our Chicagoland database. Ever wondered how much your peers spend on Zillow advertising? You’ll find the answer on page 15.

If you have opinions on syndication websites (who doesn’t?), we want to hear from you. Email marie@agentpublishing.com.
