The path to managing broker is not one that everyone will (or should) take, and those who do pursue that path know that it looks different for every individual. Some will benefit from helpful mentors; some will leverage knowledge and experience from previous careers in other fields; some will start their career in one company and stay to work their way up to managing broker status. Others will buy into a franchise. We spoke to a handful of smart, experienced managing brokers from offices in the city and in the suburbs to learn more about how they got where they are.

In this issue we also took a closer look at the demographics of today’s managing brokers and how expectations for the role vary between an agent’s and a managing broker’s perspective. No matter which side our readers identify with, we want to hear from you: what do you consider a managing broker’s obligation to their agents and their office? Email me at marie@agentpublishing.com and we may feature your comment.
